Undoped and L-Histidine monohydrochloride dihydrate (LHMHC dihydrate) doped Potassium acid phthalate (KAP) single crystals were grown by slow evaporation solution technique (SEST). The structural, optical, thermal and mechanical properties of the grown crystals were carried out by single crystal X-Ray diffraction, powder X-Ray diffraction, UV-Visible study, TG / DTA analysis and Vicker’s micro hardness test respectively. NLO studies provide information regarding the SHG efficiency of the grown crystals and the results suggest that LHMHC dihydrate doped KAP crystal is potential candidate than undoped KAP crystal for NLO device applications.
