ABSTRACT

The corrosion resistance of mild steel in simulated concrete pore solution prepared in seawater has been investigated by weight loss method, polarization study and AC impedance spectra. The influence of green inhibitor extracted from henna leaves has also been investigated in the absence and the presence of Zn2+ ions. It is observed that, in presence of this environmentally friendly green inhibitor (henna extract) the corrosion resistance of mild steel increases. This formulation may find application in concrete technology especially in marine environment because the experiments have been carried out in sea water. While constructing bridge in seas this findings may be taken into consideration.
